"Ja sieltä kun mätkähtää, niin ruumis onkin siinä — aivan liian tarkkarajaisena ja kaiken tuntevana. Päässä helisee, entropia."
In their new collaboration ’Main’ choreographer-performer Suvi Kemppainen and visual artist-experimental music artist Reetta Nummi (SITOI) trace the corporeality and the representation of vulnerability. Through the mediums of live performance, sound and installation, the work explores the penetrative quality of one's attention: the movement between presence and absence, and between blur and precise. The corporeality and subtle alterations created in the exhibition space invite the audience to zoom in to the abundance of sensitivity and to the bliss of off-focus.

Suvi Kemppainen is an internationally working choreographer, dancer, performer and performance maker based in Helsinki. Kemppainen’s artistic practice is anchored in otherworldly psychopoetic dance and questions around immaterial ownership. These questions have inspired Suvi towards a movement practice that is informed by the ownership of the body and its bones – and also the letting go of this ownership. After graduating as a dancer from North Karelia College Outokumpu in Finland Suvi Kemppainen continued their choreography studies at the University of Arts Berlin HZT. Suvi’s latest works have been presented at the Sophiensaele in Berlin, Ballhaus Ost in Berlin, Zodiak Center for New Dance in Helsinki and Kutomo Contemporary Art Space in Turku (ehkä-production). Besides creating stage works Suvi Kemppainen regularly facilitates workshops.
Reetta Nummi is a multidisciplinary artist in the field of experimental music and contemporary art. In the core of their artistic practice is the interest in language and corporeality. Working with different mediums (writing, sound, video, installation and performance) they explore the notions of irritation, error, sensitivity and the state of alarm. They have released three EP’s under their alias SITOI and performed in several countries in Europe e.g. Flow festival (FIN), Sonic Acts Festival (NL), Klang (ITL), Zur Klappe (GER). Amongst others they have collaborated with artists Nori Kin, Sini Henttu, Suvi Kemppainen, Josephine Mühle, Liina Magnea and Mikko Sarvanne. Currently they are studying fine arts in the Universität der Künste Berlin and have exhibited their works e.g. Aavistus Festival (Helsinki City Museum), Treize (Paris) and Vapaan Taiteen Tila (Helsinki).
